A’s slip past Muckers in tournament finale

The Anaconda A’s rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 4-3 win over the Butte Muckers Sunday on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium. (Boxscore)

The game closed the book on the Muckers tournament. Butte finished with a 1-3 record. Belgrade and Havre will play in the championship game.

Andrew Tallon hit a two-run double to put the A’s up for good in the top of the seventh. He and Nate Blodnick each hit a double and a single, and Cory Galle hit two singles in the win.

Tommy Sawyer and Aiden Tuss singled for Anaconda. Tyrel Smith pitched six innings, striking out six, for the win. Jayce Caughliin pitched an inning for the save.

Zach O’Connell doubled to lead the Muckers. Will Stepan, Derek Dunmire and Karsen McEwen singled.

O’Connell pitched into the seventh inning, fanning six.

The Muckers are back in action next Saturday at the Missoula Mavs B. They will play host to the Bitterroot Red Sox on Sunday.

The Butte Miners will play host to the Helena Reps in a conference twin bill at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The A’s will come to town for two with the Miners on Wednesday.
