Argos top Diggers in four

The University of Providence returned the favor to Montana Tech Friday night.

Four weeks after the Orediggers went to Great Falls and took down the Argonauts in four sets, the No. 20 Argos beat No. 16 Montana Tech 3-1 at the HPER Complex.

Providence won the Frontier Conference match 28-26, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19. (Stats)

The No. 16 Orediggers struggled to contain the Argos at the net as Providence hit for a .243 clip. The Diggers hit for just a .165 average in the match.

Kelsey Shaver tallied 26 kills to lead the Argos. Tyna Williams added 11 kills.

Marueen Jessop and Karina Mickelson each spiked 18 kills to lead the Oredigger attack. Gena McMillan added 15.

Kamaile Moody and McKenna Kaelber combined for 49 assists while Sabrina Hopcroft led the way defensively with 39 digs.

The loss drops Montana Tech to 19-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Argos improved to 17-5 and 5-2.

Montana Tech will travel to Havre Thursday for a Frontier Conference match with MSU-Northern.
