Argos capture Frontier title

LEWISTON, Idaho — The road warriors beat the Warriors.

The University of Providence women’s basketball team knocked off Lewis-Clark State College 69-66 Tuesday night in the championship game of the Frontier Conference tournament. (Stats)

Emilee Maldonado scored 17 points to lead four Argos in double figures as Providence claimed the title with its third straight road victory. Providence also won tournament games at Rocky Mountain College and Carroll College.

Maldonado also dished out seven assists in the win the gives the Argos the conference’s automatic berth in the NAIA National Tournament in Billings. Parker Esary scored 16 points in the win, while Jenna Randich tossed in 15. Bailey Cartwright scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

Jansen Edmiston scored 21 points to lead the Warriors. Jamie Nielson scored 12, and Kiara Burlage tossed in 10.
