Anderson makes Philadelphia roster

PHILADELPHIA — Colt Anderson is still No. 30 on the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles announced their final cuts on Saturday, and Anderson made the 53-man roster under first-year head coach Chip Kelly.

Anderson, 27, is one of five safeties to make the team. He is a former Eagles special teams MVP and captain.

The former Butte High and Montana Grizzlies star signed with the Eagles off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad late in the 2010 season. He went on to be named a special teams captain for the Eagles playoff game against Green Bay that season.

Anderson signed with the Vikings after going undrafted in the 2009 draft. He was released by Minnesota on the final cuts in 2009 and 2010. He joined the practice squad each of those seasons, and never appeared in a regular-season NFL game with the Vikings.

Anderson suffered a torn ACL late in 2011, and he came back in time to start the 2012 season on time. He closed the season as a starter at safety.

Anderson earned a spot in the 2004 Montana Shrine Game despite playing on a Butte High team that went 0-9 in 2003. He was a starter on the Butte High basketball team that made a surprising run to the Class AA state championship game in Missoula in 2004. He also was a standout baseball player for the Butte Miners.

The Eagles open the 2013 season on Monday Night Football next week at Washington. Eagles schedule
