Anderson, Edwards win Frontier awards

WHITEFISH — Tyree Anderson of Rocky Mountain College and A’jha Edwards of MSU-Northern were named Frontier Conference basketball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.

Anderson, a 6-foot-3 junior point guard from Las Vegas, won the league’s men’s award as the Bears won on the road at Westminster College (RV) 94-90. He scored 28 points with two rebounds, four assists and two steals. Anderson was 8 of 17 from the field, 5 of 12 3-point field goals and 7 of 9 from free throw line.

Ty Ackleson of Dickinson State, Jon Humphrie of Lewis-Clark State, Chris McGrath of Carroll College, Corbin Pearson of Montana State-Northern, Tallon Robertson of Westminster College, Antonio Snow of Montana Tech and Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls were also nominated for the award.

Snow took home the honor last week.

Edwards, a 6-5 junior forward from Sierra Vista, Ariz., won the women’s award as the Skylights downed conference rival University of Great Falls 81-71 in their only game of the week.

She recorded her eighth double-double of the season as she scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Edwards was 11 of 17 from field (65 percent).

Alli Blake of Westminster  College, TaRicka Linzy of Dickinson State, Kaci Matthies of Montana Western, Caelyn Orlandi of Lewis-Clark State, Allie Seauvageau of Rocky Mountain College and Bailey Snelling of Carroll College were also nominated for the award.
