BILLINGS — The Anaconda Copperheads will play for a state championship.
The Anaconda boys’ basketball team advanced to the title game of the Class B State tournament Friday afternoon with a 68-64 win over Shelby at MetraPark Arena. Stats
Braxton Hill scored 23 points to lead four Anaconda players in double figures. Hill, who hit 14 of 19 free throw attempts, also pulled down nine rebounds.
Bobby Swainston added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Trent Mikalatos scored 17 points and grabbed eight boards. Anaconda also got 10 points from Kadin Stetzner.
T.J. Reynolds scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Coyotes.
Anaconda will play Malta or Missoula Loyola in Saturday’s title game. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m.
The Copperheads haven’t won as state boys’ basketball title since they captured the Class A crown in 1948. The Copperheads’ last title game appearance came in 1989 when Anaconda felt to Livingston in the State A championship game.
