GREAT FALLS — Hannah Amtmann’s run through the best tennis players in the state came to an end Friday morning.
Amtmann fell 6-2, 6-1 to Annie Woods of Billings Senior in a loser-out match at the Class AA State tournament. Woods advances to the consolation semifinals, while Amtmann heads home.
“The Senior girl was a solid player who didn’t miss,” Butte High coach Mavis Bentley.
Amtmann didn’t play tennis for Butte High until her sophomore season, when she played on the junior varsity team.
“Hannah’s game improved immensely,” Bentley said. “She ran down every shot and never gave up. Great season. She placed in the top eight in the state out of 64 singles players. Not bad.”
