All-Star hoops game set

The fifth Southwest Montana High School All-Star Basketball Classic will be played on Tuesday, March 12.  The event will consist of both a girls’ and boys’ all-star game to be played on the campus of Montana Tech at the HPER Complex.

The girls’ game will be played at 6 p.m. followed by a boys’ game at 7:30.

The goal of the classic will be to promote the excellence of high school basketball in Southwest Montana and to showcase the top players in the area.  The game will follow all Montana High School Association regulations for post season all-star contests.

The coaching staffs for the games, which will be selected in early February, will be former coaches or players of participating schools.  Several nominations have already been submitted to the planning committee.  The committee will accept nominations for coaching through Monday, Feb. 5.

Nominations for coaches may be submitted by sending the name of nominees to: Southwest Montana All-Star Classic, Butte Chamber of Commerce, 1000 George St., Butte MT 59701.

Schools that will be invited to nominate players will be Anaconda, Beaverhead County, Butte Central, Butte High, Drummond, Ennis, Granite, Harrison, Jefferson, Lima, Powell County, Sheridan, Twin Bridges, West Yellowstone, and Whitehall.  Head Coaches will be asked to nominate their top players for the games.

A 3-point contest will be held in conjunction with the game and will occur at half-time of the girls’ game.
