WHITEFISH — Alfie Miller of Montana State-Northern and Erin Legel of the University of Great Falls were named the Frontier Conference basketball Players of the Week today.
Miller, a 6-foot senior forward from Seattle, earned the men’s award after the Lights went 2-0 for the weekend with home wins over Montana Tech 77-72 (OT) and Lewis-Clark State 88-84.
He averaged 20.5 points and six rebounds. Miller was 14 of 19 (74 percent) from the field, including 12 of 16 3-point field goals (75 percent) and 1 of 2 from free throw line.
Tyree Anderson of Rocky Mountain College, E.J. Farris of Lewis-Clark State, Tallon Robertson of Westminster College, Zach Taylor of Carroll College and Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls were also nominated for the honor.
Legel, a 5-5 sophomore guard from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, earned the women’s award after the Argos downed Montana Tech 89-67 and upset No. 13 Lewis-Clark State 87-67.
She averaged 25 points, six rebounds and six assists Legel was 17 of 34 from field (50 percent) and 7 of 15 (47 percent) in three-point field goals and 9 of 11 from the free throw line (82 percent).
Sammi Bignell of Montana Western, A’jha Edwards of Montana State-Northern, Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State, Amy Krommenhoek of Westminster College, Brittany Kumm of Rocky Mountain College and Bailey Snelling of Carroll College are nominated for the award.
