MEDICINE HAT, Alberta — Alberta held on to win the Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup Wednesday at the Desert Blume Golf Club.
Alberta’s girls beat Montana 11-7 in individual matches Wednesday, and the Canadians topped Montana 23-13 overall. Montana’s boys beat Alberta 12-6 on the final round, but Alberta outscored the Treasure State 19-17 overall.
Alberta took leads by winning four-ball and alternate-shot matches on Tuesday.
Kylie Esh of Missoula and Kinsey Irvin of Laurel picked up wins for Montana. Esh scored three points for Montana, while Irvin scored two. Butte’s Tricia Joyce and Bozeman’s Laurel Ward each scored a point in 2-1 losses.

The Montana players qualified for the Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup during the Montana State Junior Championship in June. Joyce, a soon-to-be Butte Central junior, won a state title at that tournament in Shelby.
Joyce also qualified for and played in the Girls Junior Americas Cup last week in Henderson, Nevada.
