WHITEFISH — Dana Abe of Lewis-Clark State College and Sydney Hovde of MSU-Northern were named Frontier Conference Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced today.
Abe is a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Seattle. No. 18 Lewis-Clark won two home conference games over the weekend. The Warriors beat No. 22 Rocky Mountain College 72-55 and No. 2 Carroll College 70-55.
For the weekend, Abe averaged 23.5 points, seven rebounds, one assist and 1.5 steals. He was 18 of 30 (60 percent) from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line.
Taylor England of Montana Tech was also nominated along wth Kooper Kidgell of Montana Western, Mascio McCadney of MSU-Northern, Jared Samuelson of Rocky Mountain College, Austin Starr of the University of Providence and Dane Warp of Carroll College.
Hovde is a 5-10 sophomore forward from Columbia Falls. Northern won two conference games at home including a victory over a top 25 team. The Skylights beat No. 22 University of Providence 62-56 and edged Montana Tech 52-51.
Hovde averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She was 8 of 16 from field and 4 of 7 from the free throw line. In the victory over Montana Tech, she score the game tying basket and then made a free throw to seal the win.
Mollie Peoples of Montana Tech was also nominated along with Hannah Dean of Carroll College, Parker Easy of the University of Providence, Markaela Francis of Rocky Mountain College, Brianna King of Montana Western and Cali Moscrip of Lewis-Clark State.
