Hoagland fifth in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS  — Hailey Hoagland placed fifth place Tuesday to lead the Butte High girls’ golf team to a sixth-place finish at the two-day Great Falls Invitational.

The Butte High junior followed Monday’s 80 at the Meadow Lark Country Club with a 79 at the Eagle Falls Golf Club for a 159. Billings Senior Kortney McNeil won the tournament with a 154 after Tuesday’s 78.

Butte High sophomore Shealyn Hafer shot an 84 Tuesday and placed sixth at 167. Also for Butte High, Hailey Ogolin carded a 184 after Tuesday’s 91.

Billings West topped the team standings with a 682. The Golden Bears shot 345 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs improved three shots to hit 356 for a 715 total.

On the boys’ side, Butte High saw four golfers break 80 as the Bulldogs carded a 313 for a 631 total. Kalsipell Glacier won with a blistering  584. The Wolfpack hit 287 after Monday’s 297.

Butte senior Mike Jankovich followed Monday’s 74 with a 76 and finished just out of the top 10 with a 150.

Ty Murphy hit a 79 Tuesday for a 157, while freshman Trey Hoagland carded a 161, following an 82 with a 79. Senior David Starcevich shook off Monday’s 84 with a 79 and a 163.

Also, Butte High Tyler Myers rebounded in a big way to card an 81 on the final round.

Ryan Porch of Glacier won the tournament with a 6-under-par 137. He shot a 4-under 67 Tuesday.

Butte High’s next tournament is in Bozeman next Monday and Tuesday.
