Some of Butte’s all-time great athletes first made a name for themselves at the Grade School Track Meet. Record holders include Josh Paffhausen, Keli Dennehy, Tommy Mellott, Kloie Thatcher, Jackie Street, Tami Matthewson, Aaron Richards and many more.

Street holds the girls’ sixth-grade 400-meter record that she set in 1979.

The meet is sponsored by the Butte Athletic Council. It was not held in 2020 or 2021 because of the COIVD-19 pandemic.
