406 Academy arrives in Butte Monday

The 406 Academy made its way to the Mining City.

Two basketball skills sessions will be held on Monday nights at the Whittier Elementary School in Butte. A session for kindergarteners through sixth grade will run for 5 to 6 p.m. A session for seventh grade and up will be held from 6:15 to 7:30.

According to the 406 Academy website, the Academy believes in using sports to help build self-confidence, leadership skills and solid principles. The goal is to provide value to the community while fostering an environment of honesty and integrity, hard work and perseverance, strong values and family experience.

The Academy is aimed at athletes looking to obtain a college scholarship or athletes just looking to get better at the sport they love.

The cost is $25 to drop in or $80 for a calendar month pass. The first visit is complimentary.

The Academy will offer the sessions year around with the goal of opening a second night in Butte in the near future. Skill sessions for more sports in Butte are also planned.
