Faupel’s 22 leads Skylights to upset win

LEWISTON, Idaho — Natalee Faupel led MSU-Northern to an upset win over Lewis-Clark State Saturday night.

The Butte High graduate scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the No. 20 Skylights beat the No. 12 Warriors 62-54, stopping L-C State’s 11-game winning streak. The loss was the first at home for the Warriors this season. Stats

Faupel hit on 7 of 12 shots from the field, including a 2-for-5 showing from 3-point range. She hit 6 of 7 free throws.

Jacy Thompson added 12 points for the Skylights. Cydney Auzenne scored 11.

Brittany Thackett’s 14 points pace the Warriors, who fell to 10-2 in Frontier Conference play and 19-4 overall.

Northern, which improved to 7-5 and 18-5, will play at Montana Western and Rocky Mountain College next week.
