It’s that time of year in the Mining City as the lapse between fall sports and winter sports has started to take shape and fade away.
We know that high school hoops is gearing up, but what’s also gearing up is the 35th Annual Jim Street Mining City Duals, set to take place this weekend which will welcome 24 teams to the Mining City. Those 24 teams will be split into 6 seperate pools, meaning the top 2 teams from each pool will advance to the championship bracket on Saturday.
The Duals in Butte has significant meaning for all wrestlers but especially Butte Wrestlers, it’s their chance to go out and honor the Mining City and a Butte Wrestling Legend who led the Bulldogs to 15 State Championships, Jim Street.
Coach Street began the first Mining City Duals in 1989. 16 AA schools and 5 A schools will all be involved in this weekends clash.
Butte placed 4th last year while Kalispell took the Crown for the second season in a row last year.
The Bulldogs look to bounce back from a rough weekend in Billings. They have 3 state placers from a season ago, Keegan Hunt, Ryder McEwen, and Will Stepan. The addition of Maverick McEwen who won a State title in Washington last season, and newly signed Oredigger Kade Scheelman bolsters the Bulldogs heavyweight division.
Its sure to be a fun packed weekend, Butte Sports will be covering the event live and have stories up as the weekend progresses, good luck to all wrestlers and save travels to those coming on the Montana interstates.
