Beaverhead Marathon is gearing up for the 2nd Annual Beaverhead Marathon and Half Marathon races on May 18th, 2019 in Dillon.
Last year’s event attracted runners from all over the United States with many local Montana athletes participating.
The Full Marathon will start at 9 a.m. at Horse Prairie Campground on the shore of Clark Canyon Reservoir south of Dillon. The Half Marathon will start at 10 a.m. at the Old Montaqua water plant south of Dillon along the Beaverhead River.
Both races will follow the same course ending in downtown Dillon at Beaverhead Brewing Company.
Beaverhead County is one of the last untouched beauties of Montana making the race one of the most picturesque marathons in the state. Runners will start near Lewis & Clarks Camp Fortunate, run on the 45th parallel, then follow the Beaverhead River past where gold was discovered in 1862 on Grasshopper Creek.
Participants will run through rich agriculture land on State Highways, dirt roads and City of Dillon streets. The finish at Beaverhead Brewing Company in Dillon will welcome all racers and spectators at the Vendor Park.
Registration is open on beaverheadmarathon.com and active.com.
