WHITEFISH — The Frontier Conference announced its men’s and women’s basketball Player of the Week awards today, and Montana Western’s Brianna King was a repeat winner on the women’s side.
Andre McCowan of Lewis-Clark State took home the men’s honor.
King is a 5-foot-5 junior guard from Spokane, Washington. She helped the No. 16 Bulldogs split their two games of the opening weekend of conference play. At home, Western beat Montana Tech 64-56. The Bulldogs fell 75-69 at No. 2 Lewis-Clark State 69-74.
King averaged 27 points, four rebounds, two assists and 4.5 steals. King was 19 of 39 from the field (49 percent), 4 of 11 3-point field goals and 12 of 14 from the free throw line (86 percent). She scored 30 points against Lewis-Clark State.
Mesa Williams of Montana Tech was also nominated, along with Hannah Dean of Carroll College, Jansen Edminston of Lewis-Clark State, Mikayla Jones of Rocky Mountain College, Brandy Lambourne of MSU-Northern and Stephanie McDonagh of the University of Providence.
McCowan is a 6-4 junior guard from Portland, Oregon. No. 24 Lewis-Clark opened conference play with two wins. The Warriors downed No. 8 Montana Western 91-82 at home and on the road, beat Montana Tech 75-67.
McGowan averaged 27 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block per game. Reeves was 22 of 33 (67 percent) from the field, 7 of 11 3-point field goals (64 percent) and 3 0f 6 from the free throw line. He scored 34 points at Montana Tech.
John Chapman of Montana Tech, Sergio Berkley of the University of Providence, Latrelle Franklin of Rocky Mountain College, Adam Huse of MSU-Northern and Ryan Imhoff of Carroll College were also nominated.
