WHITEFISH — Montana Western guard Brianna King is having a good week.
Two days after setting the school scoring record, King was named Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The league made that announcement today.
Ryan Reeves of MSU-Northern took home the men’s award.
King is a 5-foot-5 junior guard from Spokane, Washington. The No. 16 Bulldogs won two games this past week, beating College of Idaho 68-44 and No. 7 Eastern Oregon 79-65 at the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic.
King averaged 25 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals. King was 18 of 38 from the field (47 percent), 7 of 16 3-point field goals (44 percent) and 7 of 9 from the free throw line (78 percent). Her 37 points against Eastern Oregon is a new school single game scoring record.
Kourtney Coverdell of Montana Tech, Hannah Dean of Carroll College, Brooke Jones of Rocky Mountain College, Brittney Tackett of Lewis-Clark State and Jacy Thompson of MSU-Northern were also nominated.
Reeves is a 6-10 senior forward from Wrangell, Alaska. Northern won three games over the weekend with wins over Portland Bible College 104-78, Salish Kootenai College 145-46 and Valley City State (N.D.) 77-54.
He averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and five blocks per game. Reeves was 25 of 36 (69 percent) from the field and 8 0f 12 from the free throw line.
John Chapman of Montana Tech, Steven Daho-Clark of Providence, Jeremy Franklin of Lewis-Clark State, Latrelle Franklin of Rocky Mountain College and Ryan Imhoff of Carroll College were also nominated for the award.
