DILLON — Montana Western pulled off a Frontier Conference sweep of MSU-Northern Thursday night at the Straugh Gymnasium.
Dom Robinson drove for a bucket with 4 seconds left to lift the Western men to the win, capping a night that saw the Bulldogs outscore Northern 42-30 in the second half.
Brandon Jones poured in 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (9-4, 19-5). Robinson scored 16 points, while Kooper Kidgell tossed in 13, Zacceus Darko-Kelly scored 11, and Warren Helligar netted 10.
Darko-Kelly also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, and Marcus Payne contributed to the win with eight points and seven boards.
Devin Bray and Caulin Bakalarski each scored 17 points to lead the Lights (6-7, 16-9). Ryan Reeves scored 13 points, and Justin Dunsmore tossed in 11.
Brianna King’s 24 points paced the Western women in the opener. The victory was the eighth straight for the Bulldogs (9-4, 19-6)
Cierra Lamey added 14 points and eight rebounds for Western, which outscored the Skylights 32-24 in the second half.
Britt Cooper tossed in nine points and grabbed six boards in the win. Also, Alexa Wesch scored five, Savanna Bignell and Paige Holmes each scored three, and Tori Anderson and Shannon Worster scored two apiece.
Tiara Gilham’s 14 points paced the Skylights (1-12, 9-16). Shilo McCormick scored 12, while Jessica Curl tossed in nine, and Brandy Lambourne and Payton Filius each scored seven.
The Bulldogs will play host to the University of Providence on Saturday.
