Vining goes for 20 plus again, but Tech men fall

BILLINGS — Montana Tech sophomore guard Lukas Vining scored more than 20 points for the fourth straight game Thursday night.

Unfortunately for the Orediggers, it was once again in a losing effort.

Chad Kananen came off the bench to score 19 points to lead five Rocky Mountain College players in double figures, and the Battlin’ Bears knocked off the Orediggers 79-60 in a Frontier Conference men’s basketball game. Stats

Taylor Longo added 17 points in the win as Rocky improved to 15-12 overall and 8-7 in conference with its third win of the season over the Orediggers. Zach Hinton scored 13 in the win, while Riley Bradshaw scored 12 and Derek Graves tossed in 12.

Vinning scored 22 points to lead the Orediggers. He has 97 points over the last four games.

Chris O’Neill added 18 points for Tech, which fell to 7-19 and 1-15. The Orediggers also got six points from Flemming Okeke, five from John Chapman, four from Dylan Pannabecker, three from Kale Guldseth and two from Carson Dummer.

The Orediggers are back on the road Saturday when they head to Dillon to take on Montana Western.
