The women open the doubleheader at the Straugh Gymnasium. The games are the Frontier Conference openers for the Orediggers and Bulldogs.
The No. 16 Bulldogs (6-1) who enter the game riding a five-game winning streak. Junior Guard Brianna Kin averages 19.0 points per game to lead the Bulldogs. She scored a school-record 37 points in Western’s win over No. 7 Eastern Oregon Saturday in Caldwell, Idaho. Britt Cooper adds 8.9 points per game for the Bulldogs. Theresa Mac-Dangosu scores 8.6.
Kourtney Coverdell’s 12.0 points per game leads the Orediggers, who head to Dillon with an 8-2 record. Shay Potter averages 11.6 points and 8.6 rebounds for Tech. Sammy McGree, who has been doing most of her damage off the bench, scores 9.6 points per game.
Men’s college basketball
Montana Tech at Montana Western, 7:30 p.m.
The 5-3 Orediggers face a tough test to open the conference season when they take on the No. 8 Bulldogs in the nightcap.
Western enters the game at 6-0 and packs a devastating one-two punch with Dom Robinson and Brandon Jones. Robinson is averaging 18.2 points per game, while Jones adds 17.3 points and 6.7 rebounds to the lineup. Kooper Kidgell scores 13.0 points per game.
Senior guard John Chapman, who has been a bench player most of the season, averages a team-leading 14.9 points per game for the Orediggers. Classmate Chris O’Neill averages 13.1 points, while Dylan Pannabecker, who missed the last game with an injury, scores 11.0. Jake Miles is a shade under double figures with 9.9 points per game.
