Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Orediggers at Rocky

Women’s college basketball
Montana Tech at Rocky Mountain, 5:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (13-13, 7-8) go for the season series victory when they take on the Battlin’ Bears in the Frontier Conference tilt Billings.

Tech beat Rocky 65-57 behind a 19-point performance from Bailey Armbruster Jan. 28 in Butte. The Bears won 62-51 three weeks earlier in Billings.

The Bears lost leading scorer Mikayla Jones to a knee injury a month ago. Keisha Engelhardt averages 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to lead the players still playing for Rocky. Hailee Farstveet averages 10 points per game.

Senior Martha Dembek averages 15.6 points per game to lead three Orediggers averaging in double figures scoring. Classmate Hattie Thatcher add 11.3 points per game, while junior Monica Landdeck scores 11.1 points per game. Sophomore Kourtney Coverdell, the reigning Frontier Conference player of the Week, averages 8.2 points.

Men’s college basketball
Montana Tech at Rocky Mountain, 7:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (7-19, 1-14) will try to salvage the final game of a three-game season series against the Battlin’ Bears (14-12, 7-7) in the nightcap.

Rocky beat Tech 84-55 Jan. 7 in Billings and 71-58 Jan. 28 in Butte.

Riley Bradshaw averages 16.3 points per game to lead four Bears in double figures scoring. Zach Hinton averages 14.8 points per game.

Junior guard Chris O’Neill averages 13.2 points per game to lead the Orediggers. Sophomore Lukas Vining, who averages 11.2 points per game, has been on fire. He scored 75 points over Tech’s last three games.
