The Rock 3-on-3 youth boys’ basketball league will return to the Mining City for its second year this fall.
The Rock League will run on five Sunday afternoons from Oct. 15 through Nov. 12. Games will be played between 2 and 4 p.m. at the Maroon Activities Center.
The Rock League will feature two divisions. One will be for boys in the first and second grade, and the games will be played on 8-foot rims. Another division will be for boys in third and fourth grade. All games will be limited to 25 minutes.
The league will be open to players from all over the city. Players from all schools are welcome.
Butte Central boys’ basketball coach Brodie Kelly is the founder of the league. He says the purpose of the 3-on-3 league is to simplify the game for the young players, adding that 3-on-3 basketball is a great way to learn fundamentals and it makes sure every player handles the ball.
Each team will form on its own, and each team must have a coach and four players. Coaches must register each team, and coaches will organize their own practices.
Cost is $200 per team, and each league will be limited to the first eight paid entries. T-shirts will be provided for each team.
The registration deadline is Sept. 30.
