Thatcher scores 10 as Montana tops Wyoming

SHERIDAN — Team Montana saw three players score in double figures Friday night as the Big Sky State beat Wyoming 61-37 in the first half of the Midland Roundtable Montana-Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series at Sheridan College.

Recent Butte Central graduate Kloie Thatcher scored 10 points to help Montana grab the win. Thatcher will take her talents to Rocky Mountain College this fall.

The Montana girls led 27-17 at halftime before breaking the game open with a 20-8 run in the third quarter.

Kylie Frohlich of Missoula Sentinel led Montana in scoring. The future University of Montana player tossed in 11 points.

Dillon’s Brynley Fitzgerald, a future Montana State Bobcat, joined thatcher with 10 points.

Montana, which is coached by Rocky Mountain College Wes Keller, also got eight points from Twin Bridges star Kailee Oliverson, six from Helena Capital’s Taylor Sullivan, five from Three Forks’ Shainy Mack and Sentinel’s Jordyn Schweyen, four from Helena High’s Kamden Hilborn, and two from Belt’s Dani Urick.

The series is in its 22nd year. Montana now leads 30-13.

The Montana girls will go for the sweep at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Mountain College.

Montana’s boys won 76-63. They’ll go for the sweep at 7:30 Saturday.
