Montana Tech sophomore guard Kourtney Coverdell was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today.
The 5-foot-8 Coverdell, a Fairfield native, helped the Orediggers win a pair of games last week. The Orediggers upset No. 11 MSU-Northern 54-49 and downed the University of Great Falls 68-64 in overtime.
Coverdell averaged 16.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. She was 13 of 24 from the field (54 percent), 5 of 10 3-point field goals (50 percent) and 2 of 4 from the free throw line.
Butte High graduate Natalee Faupel of MSU-Northern was also nominated. So where Stephanie McDonagh of the University of Great Falls and Aniese Palmore of Montana Western.
Zach Hinton of Rocky Mountain College was named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Hinton is a 6-6 senior forward from Los Angeles. Rocky Mountain won two games over the weekend. The Bears downed No. 8 Carroll College 82-79 and No. 13 Montana Western 80-72.
Hinton averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. He was 12 of 25 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line.
Tyler Chandler of MSU-Northern, Kooper Kidgell of Montana Western, Doug McDaniel of Lewis-Clark State and Lucas Vining of Montana Tech were also nominated.
