LEWISTON, Idaho — Montana Tech junior golfer Sean Benson had a bounce-back day today.
The Billings native fired a 2-under-par 70 at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club to place second at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State College.
At 216, Benson finished two shots behind champion Michael Tait of Rocky Mountain College. Tait shot a final-round 74 after carding a 73 and a 67 on Monday. Benson shot 70 and 76 on the first day.
Tech freshman Sean Ramsbach, who played as an individual, placed eighth at 221. He shot a final-round 77.
Lewis-Clark State took the next four places as the Warriors won the tournament. L-C State shot a 301 Tuesday for an 866 total.
Rocky placed second at 876, followed by Carroll College at 911, Montana Tech at 926 and Providence-Great Falls at 955.
The Orediggers shot 306 on the final round.
Ryan Keenan tied for 20th for the Orediggers. He shot a 76 for a 324, one shot better than teammate Trey Hoagland. Hoagland hit a 79 on Tuesday.
Tech’s Houston Green placed 30th at 243, while Daniel Friez tied for 34th at 250.
Lewis-Clark State also won the women’s title with a 619 total. The Warriors shot a 310 on the final round.
Rocky placed second at 625, followed by Carroll at 674, Providence at 694 and Tech at 707.
L-C State’s Blake Greenup shot a final-round 74 for a 151 and the individual title. She beat teammate Marissa Louder and Rocky’s Amanda Conner by two shots.
Hailey Ogolin improved one shot from Monday for an 86 and a 173 to place 17th and lead the Orediggers at 173. Teammate Lynzee Dexter placed 18th at 176, Taryn Campbell placed 29th at 181, and Tanna Campbell finished 21st at 183.
The tournament was the last one of the fall season.
