Taylor, Carroll men roll to win in tourney opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Zach Taylor scored 21 points to go along with nine assists and five rebounds to lead Carroll College to an 82-59 win over Mount Mercy (Iowa) Wednesday in the first-round of the NAIA National Tournament. Stats

The Carroll men (28-8), who took a No. 1 seed into the tournament, saw four players score in double figures.

Steven Helm scored 15, while Matt Wyman tossed in 14 points, and Ryan Imhoff scored 12. Wyman also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Derik Gogg scored 15 points to lead Mount Mercy, which closes the season at 21-12. Chris Ford, Sheawn Bedford Jr. and Jake Anderson each scored 15.

The Saints will play SAGU (Texas) at 9:45 a.m. on Friday. SAGU beat Talladega (Alabama) 81-74 in the opening round. Bracket
