Southern Oregon ends season with overtime loss

REINHARDT, Georgia — The Frontier Conference football season is officially over.

Southern Oregon fell 37-34 in overtime to Reinhardt Saturday in the semifinals of the NAIA national playoffs. Reinhardt (12-0) heads to the national championship game for the first time in school history. Southern Oregon heads home with a 12-1 record.

Defending national champion Saint Francis (Indiana) beat Morningside (Iowa) 43-36 in Saturday’s other semifinal.

Reinhardt quarterback Billy Hall threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for 44 yards and one score to lead the offense. The freshman from Scott, Tennessee was making his first career start.

Junior kicker Nick Marquez booted a career-long 48-yard field goal with 40 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Tanner Trosin had another great game for the Raiders. The senior quarterback threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns. Trosin posted at least 300 passing yards in 11-of-13 games this season.
