LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the NAIA All-Region Teams. Montana Tech had three selections on the Northwest Region Team including the Northwest Region Coach of the Year Brian Solomon.
Coach Solomon just finished his sixth season with Montana Tech. The Orediggers won their first Frontier Conference title since 1990 this season and moved on to the NAIA National Tournament for the second straight year. Solomon earned his 100th victory as an Oredigger this past season and also won his 200th career match.
Junior outside hitter Masha Korol was named First Team All-Region. The Frontier Conference Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year just complete her first season in Butte after transferring this past summer. The Ukraine product finished the season with 377 kills averaging 2.86 per set with a .245 hitting percentage.
Outside hitter Angela Molesworth was also named First Team All-Region. The senior had 376 kills averaging 2.83 per set with a .248 hitting percentage. Molesworth, from Gilbert, Ariz., was named Frontier Attacker of the Week three times this past season. Molesworth hit double-digit kills 23 times.
Montana Tech reached 20-wins for the second season in a row this year. The Orediggers tallied a 24-10 overall record and went 10-2 in conference action. Tech reached the final 16 teams at the NAIA National Tournament just the second time in school history.
