Skylights’ season ends with loss to Vanguard

BILLINGS — MSU-Northern’s women’s basketball team fell 71-65 to Vanguard (California) in the second round of the NAIA National Tournament Friday night at MetraPark Arena. Stats

The loss closed the collegiate career of Butte High graduate Natalee Faupel.

Faupel, MSU-Northern’s all-time leading scorer, closed the season with 21 points and four rebounds. She hit 4 of 6 shots from 3-point land.

Victoria Chea scored 15 points, and Tania Uluhea scored 14 to lead Vanguard (29-3).

The Skylights close the season with a 24-9 record.

Earlier Friday, Frontier Conference champion Lewis-Clark State advanced to the quarterfinals with a 69-58 win over Bethel (Tennessee). The Warriors (33-1) will play Westmont of California (24-9) at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
