The Montana Tech football team, winners of the Frontier Conference title in 2015 and 2016, were picked by the league coaches to win again in 2017.
The Frontier Conference coaches poll was released Tuesday at the Frontier media day in Great Falls.
Montana Tech received five of the eight first-place votes, racking up 47 points to top the poll. Eastern Oregon was picked second at 36, while Southern Oregon, which received the other three first-place votes, tied with Carroll College at fourth place at 33.
Montana Western came in fifth at 27, followed by the College of Idaho and Rocky Mountain College at 17 and MSU-Northern at nine.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. First place was worth seven points, second place worth six points, third place worth five points, fourth place worth four points, fifth place worth three points, sixth place worth two points and seventh place worth one point.
The Orediggers open their run for a Frontier 3-peat Aug. 31 when they play host to Carroll College.
