The Butte Miners will open Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium with a nine-inning American Legion baseball game on Friday, May 19 against the Bitterroot Bucs. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
A dinner and opening ceremonies will precede the game.
At 4:30, a Butte-Silver Bow ribbon cutting will be held. A pasty dinner and dedication ceremony for Jack Whelan, Jim Hanley and Jack Cavanaugh will take place at 5. Cost is $25 per person, and it is limited to 100 people.
At 6:20, the American Legion color guard will present the colors for the national anthem. The ceremonial first pitch by a member of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation will be held at 6:25.
The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved the name of the $2.3 million stadium at its May 3 meeting.
