A pair of young Butte speed skaters brought home medals from the U.S. Long Track Nationals over the weekend in Lake Placid, New York.

Max Kluck, a sixth grader at Hillcrest, and Will Silk, a Hillcrest fifth grader, each captured bronze medals in the 400-meter race in their age groups. Results

Kluck competed in the midget men age group, while Silk raced in the pony men group. Silk was unable to compete in two of his races after suffering a nasty fall.

Last month the two skaters helped Hillcrest once again claim the city title at the School Races at the U.S. High Altitude Sports Center.
