CHANDLER, Ariz. — The No. 17-ranked Montana Western men’s basketball team will head home with a 2-1 record at the Cactus Classic.
The Master’s University (California), the No. 5 team in the NAIA, used five players in double figures to top the Bulldogs 108-95 Tuesday. (Stats)
Darry McDowell-White scored 23 points off the bench to lead the Mustangs. Timothy Soares scored 22 points, while Lawrence Russell scored 19. Also, Brock Gardner scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Hansel Atencia tossed in 11.
Dom Robinson had another big game for the Bulldogs. The senior guard hit four 3-pointers and scored 26 points to pace the Bulldogs, who saw four players reach double digits scoring.
Marcus Payne chipped in with 19 points, Zaccheus Darko-Kelly added 16, and Kooper Kidgell netted 14.
Brandon Jones was the lone Bulldog starter to not reach double figures, but the junior scored nine points and grabbed a team-leading 10 rebounds.
Also for the Bulldogs, Troy Scott, Trey Edwards and Derrek Dorocher scored three points apiece, and Warren Helligar scored two.
The 10-2 Bulldogs are back in action Dec. 29-30 when they head to Billings for the Green and Gold Classic.
