BILLINGS — Billings Senior graduate and future Montana Grizzly Nate Dick led the East Side to a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns Saturday night as the East beat the West 38-24 in the 71st Montana East-West Shrine Game at Herb Klindt Field.
In all, Dick had a hand in four East touchdowns in the win.
He hit former prep teammate Keaton Anderson for a 5-yard touchdown pass to put the East up 30-24 with 5 minutes, 29 seconds left.
Dick then clinched the win with a 23-yard scoring run.
Dick also hit Bailey Paddock of Bozeman for a 29-yard score in the first quarter. He hooked up with Chandler Allen of Fairfield for a 10-yard strike in the third.
Anderson caught a TD pass from both East quarterbacks. He grabbed a 17-yard pass from Bozeman’s Callahan O’Reilly in the second quarter.
Fellow future Grizzly Tanner Wilson of Polson ran for a score and tossed for another for the West. He hit Mitch Roberts of Missoula Sentinel for a 55-yard strike late in the third quarter.
Polson receiver Mathew Rensold, also a future Grizzly, caught a 5-yard TD pass from Dakota Birdwell of Columbia Falls.
Five Butte players — Bryce Gallagher, Kiley Caprara, Nate McGree, Blake Burton and Sam Johnston — represented the West in the game.
The East now leads the all-time series 39-32. Next year’s game will be played in Great Falls. The game returns to Butte for a fourth time in 2019.
