OGDEN, Utah — The Big Sky Conference announced its 2018 Spring All-Academic Teams Monday, and three Butte natives made the grade.
Hailey Hoagland and Abby Dodge of the University of Montana earned the honor along with Rachael McGree of Montana State University.
In all, 637 student-athletes made the teams.
“I’d like to congratulate all of our spring student-athletes for their hard work and academic success,” Big Sky Commissioner Andrea Williams said in a statement. “Our student-athletes have continued to demonstrate their commitment and motivation to succeed in their respective sport, as well as in the classroom. They are competing at a high level nationally, while performing well academically.”
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team’s competitions. In track & field student-athlete competed at the outdoor conference championships. 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
Hoagland, a senior majoring in finance, earned the academic honor on the Montana golf team. Dodge, a freshman in health and human performance, and McGree, a freshman in political science, earned the honors as track athletes.
