DILLON — Montana Western’s men’s basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday night at the Straugh Gym.
No. 19 Lewis-Clark State College outscored the No. 8 Bulldogs 13-8 in the second overtime to knock off Western in a 101-96 Frontier Conference thriller. (Stats)
The game was tied at 84 at the end of regulation and at 88 after the second overtime.
Cory Dollarhide came off the bench to score 24 points and lead four Warriors in double figures in the win, which came 24 hours after Lewis-Clark State (7-5, 18-6) fell 68-66 at Montana Tech.
Dana Abe, who also come off the bench to score 17. Andre McCowan scored 12, and Damek Mitchell tossed in 11.
Dom Robinson’s 25 points paced the Bulldogs, who fell to 8-4 and 18-5. Zaccheus Darko-Kelly added 22 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Jones also posted a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Dom Robinson and Kooper Kidgell each scored 10 points, Marcus Payne tossed in nine, and Troy Scott scored three.
Western used just seven players in the game.
The Orediggers are back at home next week to take on MSU-Northern and the University of Providence.
