BILLINGS — Kourtney Coverdell is proving that her Frontier Conference Player of the Week honors were no fluke.

The Montana Tech sophomore scored 27 points to lead the Orediggers to a 65-63 victory over Rocky Mountain College in a Frontier Conference women’s basketball game. The win was the third straight for the surging Orediggers, who improved to 14-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play. Stats

Coverdell’s big night included a tiebreaking 3-pointer to put the Orediggers up 63-60 with 1 minute, 39 seconds left. Hattie Thatcher, who assisted on the go-ahead bucket, added a basket to help Tech hold onto the win.

Coverdell’s tiebreaker was her ninth 3-pointer of the night, breaking a Montana Tech team record set by Monica Landdeck earlier this season. Landdeck hit eight 3-pointers against Yellowstone Christian College in October.

Thatcher scored 15 points and dished seven assists in the win. Martha Dembek scored 11 points. Tech also got four points form Landdeck, three from Kaylynn Coverdell, two from Bailey Armbruster and Callee Remsen and one from Rachel Farris.

Keisha Engelhardt scored 12 points to lead the Battlin’ Bears (12-15, 4-11). Jayde LeFevre and Hailee Farstveet each scored 11.

The Orediggers are back on the road Saturday when they head to Dillon to take on Montana Western.
