BOZEMAN — The Butte Track Club placed third in team Standings at the USATF Montana Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, which were held Friday and Saturday at Van Winkle Stadium.
The Butte team combined to score 510 points. Bozeman won the nine-team meet with 906 points. Speed Goat Track and Field took second at 614.5.
McGree sisters Rileigh, Lindsay and Rachael McGree each posted a victory for Butte. Rileigh McGree, who placed second in the triple jump, won the long jump in the 13-14 age group.
Lindsay McGree won the 15-16 long jump title, while Rachael McGree won the 17-18 triple jump. Rachael McGree also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles.
On the boys’ side, Butte got victories from Ryan Hanson, Brady Hanson, Miles Choquette and a pair of relay teams.
Ryan Hanson won the high jump in the 9-10 division, while Brady Hanson bested the field in the 400-meter run of the 8-and-under division. Choquette won the 200 in the boys’ 8-and-under group.
Erik Johns, Zach Merrifield, Aidan Pezdark and Cutter Thatcher won the 400-meter relay in the 15-16 age group. Jason Johns, Trey McCarthy, Sam Sampson and Burke McGruder did the same in the 11-12 division.
Other Butte athletes to post at least one top-three individual finish are Bryli Pressler, Mya Stenson, Taylinn Garrett, Madalynn Rhodes, Nicole Hyatt, Kylie Jaksha, Autumn Silk, Hannah Morin-Ferguson, Mikenna O’Dell, Anna Trudnowski, Allyson Mueller, Sam Sampson, Trey McCarthy, Tyson Zeren, Cutter Thatcher, Jake Vetter, Carlos Nave, Treigh Hollow, Chase Choquette and John Connole.
McKenzie Hansen, Amika Jensen, Emry Lee and Autumn Silk placed second in the 11-12 girls’ 400-meter relay. Chase Choquette, Kooper Kuchtyn, Blake Wadas and Raeder Grey ran to second in the 9-10 boys’ 400-relay.
The Region 11 Junior Olympic championships for Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming are scheduled to be held in in Boise, Idaho, on June 23-25.
