Butte Special Olympians off to fast start in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS — Butte’s contingent of Special Olympians is off to a good start at the Montana State Games.

The Games began Wednesday and run through Friday.

Thad Powell placed first in the turbo javelin to lead a group of six Butte Olympians to place in the top four in their events in the first day.

Joe Gibson took second in golf, while three athletes placed third in their events.

Amie Opie placed third in the unified triathlon. She biked and ran in the event. Tabitha Zundel swan to take third in the unified triathlon, while Lisa Castiglioni finished third in the turbo javelin

Also, Justin Taylor placed fourth in the bocce.
