Bulldogs warn of bogus out-of-state solicitors

Butte High school has issued a warning to supporters of Bulldog athletics that out-of-state and internet business have been using the school’s name without permission to solicit business for advertisement in their publications.

These imposters make it appear that business are supporting the Bulldogs by using the school name. Butte High School, however, does not receive one cent of the monies paid to out-of-state vendors.

Butte High Activities Director Chuck Merrifield issued a letter to the media this week warning supports to be aware of the scams.

When Butte High coaches or student-athletes knock on doors or stop at a business, Merrifield said, they will have Butte High School identification. These letter jackets, activity cards, letterheads and promotional fliers will clearly show that the representative is with the Butte High Bulldogs or the Butte Athletic Council.

“We want you to know how much we appreciate your support,” Merrifield wrote. “Just make sure your contribution goes where you want it to go.”
